SAO PAULO – Last week, the governor of the Federal District (DF), Ibaneis Rocha, assumed the presidency of the Interstate Development Consortium of Central Brazil (BrC), which aims to promote the economic and social development of the federation units that compose it: Distrito Federal, Goiás, Maranhão, Mato Grosso, Mato Grosso do Sul, Rondônia and Tocantins.

DF’s deputy governor, Paco Britto, appointed executive secretary of the Consortium, spoke with the DIRE news agency about the performance of these states amid the worst moment of the Covid-19 pandemic in Brazil and the prospects for 2021.

According to Britto, the Midwest region has great potential for attraction and competitiveness and the Consortium can offer much more agility in negotiations with the private sector.

“The Consortium is formed by 6 states and the Federal District, with this has more agility in the purchases and development of the Midwest. We have several lines of credit that can be discussed, various opportunities and agilities in the procedure through the Consortium, such as acquisitions of consumer goods and programs. We can help and entrepreneurs help us develop these states.”

“We have a bank that operates in this consortium that is BRB, which will be the development bank of these 7 states, no longer just a regional bank in Brasilia to serve the entire region. To get an idea, this consortium now represents 75 deputies and 21 senators. A strong, united and cohesive bench that wants the development of its states.”

The Project that creates the Parliamentary Front in support of the Interstate Consortium of Development of Central Brazil was presented last Thursday (4) by Senator Soraya Thronicke, who explained that the collegiate will work in integrated actions in the areas of logistics, infrastructure, social and business.
