SAO PAULO – President Jair Bolsonaro declared on Monday (15) the intention of protocol with the National Health Surveillance Agency (Anvisa – Agência Nacional de Vigilância Sanitária) the emergency use of nasal spray against Covid-19. Developed at Tel Aviv Ichilov Medical Center in Israel, the EXO-CD24 has just completed Phase 1of testing.
In his Twitter, Bolsonaro announced that “the drug’s effectiveness is close to 100% (29/30) in severe cases of the disease.” The publication also included the translation of a post by Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, in which he says that both agreed to “cooperate in the development of coronavirus medicine and vaccines”.
The telephone conference between Bolsonaro and Netanyahu took place on Friday (12), when Brazil’s participation in the 3rd phase of spray testing was discussed. The president is an advocate of early treatment for Covid-19 and believes that betting on vaccines is not enough.
According to Professor Nadir Arber, one of the doctors and researchers involved in the development of the drug, EXO-CD24 is intended for moderate to severe patients, to avoid deterioration to a difficult situation.
The Ichilov Medical Center clarified that the drug is inhaled once a day for a few minutes, for five days being directed to the lungs. In phase 1 of testing, the spray helped to cure 30 infected. In 29 of the cases, the patients were discharged between three and five days, while the other patient took a little longer to recover.

Sviluppato presso il Tel Aviv Ichilov Medical Center in Israele, l’Exo-Cd24 ha appena completato la prima fase dei test.
