Brazilian Agribusiness Forum calls on society to discuss opportunities in the sector

by Bianca Oliveira

SAO PAULO – “Agro and Environment, energy in the development of Brazil” is the theme of the Brazilian Agribusiness Forum, which starts on Monday (19) and brings together representatives from different sectors to discuss new actions for the sector’s growth in the country.

In an interview with Dire news agency, Agostinho Turbian, president of Global Council Sustainability & Marketing (GCSM), said the event wants to go beyond Brazil’s internal capabilities. “If it weren’t for the big international companies that brought us technology, we wouldn’t have the ability to have that productivity index in our industry either.”

In 2020, agribusiness boosted Brazil’s economy while other markets suffered major losses from the Covid-19 pandemic. The increase was 2% in relation to the previous year and the participation in the GDP reached 6.8%.

The Forum is an initiative of the GCSM together with the Forum of the Americas, the Federation of Agriculture and Livestock of the State of São Paulo (FAESP) and the Brazilian Rural Society (SRB). The event will be opened by businessman Mario Garnero and Chairman João Roberto Benites, followed by a statement by the Minister of the Environment, Ricardo Salles, the Governor of São Paulo, João Doria, and the Mayor of the city of Ribeirão Preto ( SP), Duarte Nogueira.

In Turbian’s view, the objective of the event is to promote the socialization of the Agro, that is, the exchange of knowledge and exchange aimed at eradicating hunger in the world, taking to the regions the culture of Agribusiness and development. “We are living in a very important moment in the world, when this reflection on agribusiness is more comprehensive. Agro has become the new bargaining chip on the planet and today we may have the opportunity to revisit concepts of socialization, which is the method of dealing with people on an equal level ”.
