Suspension of soccer games in Brazil divides opinions in the sports field

This discussion came to light after the video of the meeting of the president of the CBF (Brazilian Football Confederation) with directors of clubs in Brazil was released by the newspaper O Dia. In the video, the president of the Cbf, Rogério Caboclo, stated that the games should continue and that he will guarantee it.

This position is not unanimous in sports. Football commentator and one of the main sports journalists in the country, Mauro Beting, gave an interview to Dire agency, where he commented on this phase in Brazilian football. For Beting, the situation today is very delicate, and although the athletes and coaching staff are being tested, doing social isolation and following strict protocols, it is a time to stop and think about the pandemic situation. “There is no ideal solution for this case anywhere in the world, but if there is a place that needs to stop and think at least, that place is Brazil and football is included in that context,” said the commentator.

Mauro Beting still ponders that there is no ideal solution and that nobody wants a stoppage without reasons, but at this moment we have to have a global view of the matter. “We need a more humane vision than a professional one and we usually don’t have that vision,” he said.
