SAO PAULO – A new data leak has been discovered in Brazil. The target was telephone data and more than 100 million Brazilians were reached.
Information security firm Psafe, which had already identified the CPF leak last month, discovered the leak on February 3, but only released the information earlier this week.
According to Psafe, the records of 102,828,815 Brazilians regarding cell phone number, time of calls, personal data, among other data were exposed. The company also said that cybercriminals indicated the source of the leaks and this time the accused were the telephone companies Claro and Vivo. According to a report on the Neofeed website, the hacker claims to have information on 57.2 million telephone accounts by Vivo and 45.6 million by Claro. The numbers are lower than the bases of the two companies. Vivo has a base of 78.5 million accounts, while the competitor has 63.1 million.
In an interview with Cnn Brasil, Claro stated that it did not identify any data leaks and that the company that located the base, Psafe, “did not find evidence to prove the criminals’ allegation”. The mobile phone company said it would conduct an investigation and invest in security procedures, in addition to maintaining “constant monitoring” of its database to “identify fraud and protect its customers”.
Through a note, Vivo reported that, “there was no data leak incident” and said that “it has the strictest controls in accessing its consumers’ data and in combating practices that may threaten their privacy”.

L’ente di cybersecurity Psafe, che aveva già identificato la precedente appropriazione indebita, ha scoperto il furto il 3 febbraio ma ha divulgato l’informazione solo ieri.
